Forrest Firm

David Morris is an attorney with the Forrest Firm PC based out of the firm’s RTP office. He draws from a deep well of experience as an attorney, investment banker, educator, entrepreneur, and investor to advise the Forrest Firm’s client roster of startup, growth stage, and mature companies. In his work at the Forrest Firm, David focuses on commercial transactions, private equity and other financing transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate matters.  In 2017, David was part of the Forrest Firm team that advised on the second Regulation CF Equity Crowdfunding offering for a North Carolina company.

David began his career as a commercial banker at a predecessor firm of JP Morgan Chase providing business development assistance and financial analyses to senior real estate and private equity bankers.  He subsequently worked as an assistant vice president for Regions Bank, supervising a team responsible for underwriting corporate banking loans for a four-state territory.

Mr. Morris later joined the global investment bank, UBS Warburg, where he assisted multinational clients in analyzing, structuring, and executing mergers and acquisitions from the firm's New York and Tokyo offices. He spent 10 years as managing director at Oracle Capital Partners, a Midwest-based private equity firm. At OCP, he invested in companies operating in the manufacturing, commercial services, technology, and health care sectors.

A seasoned legal and business educator, he developed course content and taught at Duke University, North Carolina Central University and Tulane University on topics related to mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance.

Mr. Morris holds a B.A. in economics and political science from Duke University, as well as a M.B.A. from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business. He earned a Juris Doctor degree, with concentrations in commercial transactions and corporate reorganization, from the Duke University School of Law.

David is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Business Law, Estate Planning and Real Property sections. He is admitted to practice law in New York.
